Senior Adviser
Dr. Fernando Gonzalez is a Senior Adviser for the ECB Banking Supervision where he coordinates the securitisation function and chairs the SSM Securitisation Expert Group on Significant Risk Transfer and Securitisation. He joined the ECB in 1999 where he had different posts leading to Head of Risk Strategy Division. During this period, he led the design and implementation of ECB Risk Management Frameworks for Monetary Policy and Investment Operations. He was Senior Adviser in the Bank of England PRA (2016-2018) where he conducted work in the Bank Policy Division. More recently, he was a Principal in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (2018-2019) in its Capital Market Development Team, where he led Policy Dialogue and Technical Cooperation projects across the EBRD region.
He has a Doctorate in Financial Economics from U. Autónoma de Madrid and is a CFA and FRM charter holder. Before joining the ECB, he had several academic posts in the area of econometric modelling and quantitative finance. He was a member of the Neuroforecasting Unit in the London Business School and Assistant Professor in Finance in the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration.
